Kiosk Sessions...
Head4Help can be deployed in a place where people do not normally have access to IT resources or the internet or where many people congregate. This could be in a prison, a school, a supermarket or even a church. The idea is to create a secure yet open contact point that provides useful web resources, access to counselling and a simple to use interface. The kiosk is fully manageable by an organisation but still provides the end user with a confidential channel to help.

History
Head4Help is based on the 'Distance Therapy' software developed by us here at Datasmith. During the development of 'Distance Therapy', Datasmith tested a Kiosk service in a UK prison so as to help a local charity access vulnerable people in prison.
The Big Idea
A kiosk was provided within a secure area of the prison that gave the inmates a private link to a set of predefined online resources. Access to a counsellor was provided by a local charity to allow for 'continuity of care'. The inmate can begin a counselling relationship with the charity provided counsellor whilst serving a sentence and carry on using the same online system or change to face to face methods when released.
Not only did the kiosk provide a live counselling link it also provided useful web based resources. For example the resources included:
- Direct online contact with a counsellor to help with drug and alcohol issues.
- Links to the Probation Service.
- Links to resources to help cope with drug and alcohol addiction.
- Links to legal resources.
The Design
The kiosk was designed to be secure and easy to use. Only approved pages could be accessed and only approved counsellors could be contacted.
